This is the drill ship Jasper Explorer, entering
shipyard at Algeciras in Spain the other day, and
photographed by Martin Penwright. If you think that
this craft looks like an early iteration of the
drill ship, you would be right. This vessel first
went to work as the Havdrill in 1973. Since then it
has worked for a number of companies, before Jasper
Investments, Neptune Drilling as the Neptune
Explorer. After a layup in 2006 it was upgraded,
hence the sponsons and the modern derrick.
