PICTURE OF THE DAY Photographs of offshore support vessels in action in many parts of the world.

The notice on the side says "Customs and Border
Protection" and the borders in question are
those of Australia. This ship, the Ocean
Protector, formerly the Skandi Bergen was
modified at the STX Yard in Canada, from whom
this photo was received. It will replace the
Veritas Viking which became the Oceanic Viking,
and has been doing the job for some time, mainly
patrolling Antarctic waters on the lookout for
poachers. Note: After posting this I was
informed that the modifications had actually
taken place in Newcastle New South Wales, and
that the picture was taken there.
