The Solitaire, the awesome pipelayer, photographed recently off the coast of Trinidad by Christian Walker. This vessel entered service in 1998, and if you don't count the pipelaying capability of the crane barges, is the largest pipelayer in the world. Apparently it can carry 22,000 tons of pipe, the lengths being together using an automatic system. It was originally a bulk carrier.
