PICTURE OF THE DAY

Photographs of offshore support vessels in action in many parts of the world. 

I'm heartened that when I go on holiday the submissions for Picture of the Day diminish. It means that people are still looking at the page, although today there is a vast amount of competition for ship enthusiast's attention. But I might have been first in 1998, and some of the photographs I posted then can still be found on the site. Anyway, from the archive here is an old favourite, the Eide Fighter captured by Jan Plug at Haugesund in March of this year, showing the unmistakable lines of Smit-Lloyd, and it was the SM115 built in 1975, its two engines producing 8000 bhp.

I have started a community page, I have no idea how this will go but it seems that by enrolling  people with common interests can email each other - without the public exposure of Facebook.
