BOURBON OFFSHORE MARITIMA

Delba Maritima is reported by the Seabrokers Monthly Newsletter as being a company owned by Brazilian entrepreneur Mr Newton Lins and the French offshore company SURF.

In 2004, the last time this page was updated, the company owned no ships but was building three UT 722s in Brazil for eventual long term charter with Petrobras. The three UT 722s were to be of different specifications, ranging in power from 12,240 to 14,410 BHP.

During 2010 the company was purchased by Bourbon Offshore who have added vessels to the fleet, and changed the name. Hence this will be the last change to this page and the story will be continued on the Bourbon Offshore Maritima page, and here we are. This fleet list is derived from the information collected for Delba Maritima and with information added by Fabián Pérez who is working offshore in South America.

Now in 2012 the Bourbon presentation on its website includes all ships worldwide, so it has become difficult to assign them to areas. however I have done my best.

At the 2014 review I have decided to divide Bourbon into three groups. This is the Brazilian Group, and in addition to the ships details on the Bourbon Maritima site we have also included Bourbon ships which have been photographed in the area. The second group will be Bourbon Norway who have a pretty well defined fleet list, and the third area will be Bourbon Offshore which will contain the rest of the fleet. To make things a bit more complex, Bourbon are in the process of selling ships and bareboating them back, to provide capital for continued expansion.

There may well now be further additions to this fleet since the marine world is infested with Liberty 100, 150s and 200s. But no/one has sent any photos of them in, and who knows what the future holds with Petrobras becoming less financially secure than heretofore.

Comments	One of these ships is assigned to the Bourbon Offshore Maritima Fleet There is much that could be said about this concept, not least the confidence the company must have in the design. They are not even conventional in construction. they will all have three propellers, one in the middle which is fixed, probably, and one on each side which are azimuthing. This configuration according to the publicity will provide a greater level of reliability, and in the text of the supplement various ship-masters testify to the ease with which the ships can be handled. This may be just as well, since one has difficulty imagining how they will manage to place skilled staff on each of these ships as they enter service (extract from news and views).
