This
is the Aries Marine platform ship Betty Pfankuch
alongside the Stena Forth in the Gulf of Mexico,
with a full deck cargo. This is known as a "Spud
Boat", the first ship to arrive at a drilling rig on
a new location carrying all th essentials required
to start a new well. The pipe for those unfamiliar
is the first length of casing, and although I have
not see this before, I believe the yellow lengths
will be the one at the top, since they are marked
with numbers so the ROV can see how deep the bottom
end will be below the seabed.

away, but buy one! It only costs £5.75 or equivalent
post free to anywhere in the world. Or if you took
advantage of my special offer - see below - I'll
throw in a free copy. |
