PICTURE OF THE DAY 2012

Photographs of offshore support vessels in action in many parts of the world. 

You have to look pretty closely to see what is going on here. It is the Dockwise Swan unloading the Exmar 1 platform  by submerging itself. the photograph was taken by Grant Taylor late in 2008, I think in Corpus Christi in the GOM. If you want to do this job in Europe, it is quite difficult to find sheltered waters that are deep enough. But the Americans work it out by dredging at the dockside. You have to admire their direct approach.
