And back to Aberdeen. The photo by George Craigen was intended to catch a leaping dolphin, and he just made it. It is a sign of the times, that the harbour is now so clean that the dolphins can sail in and eat the salmon before the seals can get at them. There used to be a commercial fishery which extended a net out into the harbour from the south shore, catching salmon at the appropriate time of year. But they were bought out by the fisheries further up the river. Oh, and in the background, in the former Hall Russell's drydock, is the Olympic Triton. Picture posted here on 9th October 2012. |
