PICTURE OF THE DAY 2012

Photographs of offshore support vessels in action in many parts of the world. 

The well stimulation vessel Skandi Fjord in Esbjerg the other day - snapped by Udo Herkenrath. There are now more of these ships about, and it can be a bit of a dream job for the crews. Frac jobs (Well stimulation) only take place occasionally so  mostly they lie about in port waiting for the work. Then the actual job only takes two or three days and they are then sent back into their base port. Surely this must be better than trogging across the Pacific for three weeks with a day at an offshore loading berth at the end. The downside is the two or three days in close proximity to an offshore installation.
